Thanks to all speakers, bands and volunteers who performed and helped at "Sir Joh Resigns - 20 Years To The
Day" event on 1 Dec 07. The event marked the 20th anniversary to the day of Sir Joh Bjelke-Petersen being forced to resign
as Premier of Queensland, after a repressive reign characterised by institutionalised corruption and a gerrymander
electoral system. He lead his government in attacks on indigenous rights, freedom of speech / public assembly
rights, the environment, unions, the arts and cultural landmarks. During his time as Premier, police officers were
also infamously involved in illegal gambling, prostitution and drugs.
